Enabling patients to thrive from the comfort of home
Home dialysis allows patients living with chronic kidney disease more time and flexibility to participate in daily life. In some cases, at home dialysis patients have fewer food restrictions, less medication and more flexible treatment schedules.
The home therapy nurse leads the patient and their care partner through a comprehensive training program which lasts about 4-8 weeks. During this time the patient continues to receive treatments in the clinic setting. The home therapy nurse serves as a support resource to prepare patients and their care partners to properly operate the home dialyzer, how to monitor and interpret the dialyzer screen during treatments, how to safely dispose of used supplies and what do and who to call if issues arise during a treatment.
