Statistician Quality Assurance

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Perform quality data analysis to support Quality Engineering group as well as other functional groups in the organization.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts quality data charting and trending for the entire plant to ensure that the most relevant data is available to plant management.

  • Conducts periodic trending as required by procedures to determine when quality metrics exceedalert limits.

  • Provides statistics support to functional groups in the organization as needed(design control, validations, inspection, etc.); may include verification and/or approval of statistical analysis performed by others.

  • Authors or edits statistical reports as necessary.

  • Defines appropriate AQL’s and sample plans used throughout the plant, and ensure that they are established with the appropriate documented rationale.

  • Assesses and documentsthe needs for improvement to statistical methods deployed across the plant.

  • Updates applicable procedures to ensure the availability of the most appropriate tools for statistical analysis.

  • Establishes necessary training modules and trains personnel on the proper use and application of statistical methods across the plant.

  • Ensures appropriate application of statistical methods to verify that the organization is in compliance with regulations/standards.

  • Maintains general housekeeping of working area and plant.

  • May provide assistance to junior level staff with general tasks that require a better understanding of functions, as directed by immediatesupervisor.

  • May refer to senior level staff for assistance with higher level problems that may arise.

  • Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemednecessary.

  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk and sit, use hands to finger; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and wear protective equipment that may include steel-toed shoes or safety glasses, lab coat etc.

  • Ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs.

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and wet and/or humid conditions.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • The employee may also be exposed to bovine and human blood products. Hepatitis B Vaccination is recommended.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 2 – 5 years’related experience; or an advanceddegree without experience; or equivalent directlyrelated work experience.

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineerpreferred.

  • Must be able to prioritize responsibilities in order to maintain a balanceof support in all areas and execute projects with clear objectives.

  • Experience with computer data processing and other software used to analyze and report scientific activities.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

  • Ability to update documentation through the electronic change order system.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

  • Ability to understand and employ mathematics and statistics at an advanced level.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
