Manager, Product Line Sustaining Engineer, NxStage Medical, Inc., a Fresenius Medical Care N.A. company, Lawrence, MA
Purpose and Scope:
Responsible for product and process engineering activities supporting NxStage production phase projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading product development teams and projects responsible for the new product introduction and expansion of our fluid manufacturing technology and operations in the U.S.
- Delivering project results that support progress on key NxStage product development initiatives.
- Recruiting, retaining and supervising the day-to-day work of the product development/sustaining engineering team comprising specialized engineering professionals.
- Supporting engineering initiatives that lead to the achievement of NxStage business objectives related to the manufacture of NxStage concentrate solutions in the U.S.
- Ensuring that product development activities conform to applicable design control and risk management requirements.
- Investigating and implementing corrective actions as applicable to design elements of concentrate solution products.
- Managing cross-functional prioritization and design execution of Level 2 medical device engineering projects.
Education Experience and Required Skills:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience in product engineering supporting the manufacture of medical devices or pharmaceutical products.
Experience, which may have been gained concurrently with the primary experience requirement above must include three (3) years of experience:
- Leading Product, Design, and Process Improvement projects from Development to Production
- Collaborating in product design to avoid high-impact production problems and contribute to Design for Manufacturability and Analysis
- Tracking materials inspections for new products and resolving material problems with suppliers
- Executing and documenting results of manufacturing evaluations and validations, identifying areas of improvement, and determining cost-benefit analysis for potential improvements
